Movie of the Day(Saturday):
The Chumscrubber(2005)To put it simply this movie was mediocre. It wasn’t horrible, but it wasn’t the greatest thing I have ever seen. It stars Jamie Bell as a boy named Dean who discovers his best friend, Troy, has hung himself. His best friend was apparently selling drugs, and some kids from his school harass him to try to find Troy’s pills to give to them. The kids harassing dean are the popular kids, one of which is played by Camilla Belle. Needless to say, the movie is just one of those teenage finding yourself, boy falls in love with popular girl and vice versa, popular guy gets humbled type movies. I was suprised to find Glenn Close in this movie playing Dean’s dead friend’s mother. There was also the fact that somehow this movie was supposed to be tied into a video game, but the video game scenes made no sense and had no relevance to the film. I wouldn’t suggest watching this movie if you are wanting to watch an award winning, amazing film, but it is okay for what it is.
I give it a 2.5 out of 5.
